Temoku is the name of the rich black Japanese glaze used on this particular tableware. It is paired with a second shiny amber glaze on the bowls and side pieces.  Dinner plates contain a Temoku square glazed in the center, leaving four areas near the simple rounded rim for black porcelain decoration and soda ash variations. The couple who commissioned this set often make one dish meals so we designed an over sized large low bowl for that purpose. Dishwasher safe.
